FAQ
Why should we choose to attend the IAPAM Aesthetic Medicine Symposium?
The IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium, is one of the very few Aesthetic Medicine/ Medical Spa training programs which is not operated or sponsored by equipment distributors or consultants. The goal of the symposium is to give you all the information you need to immediately start adding Aesthetic Medicine procedures to your practice.
The IAPAM is the only provider of aesthetic medicine training that has 2 board certified cosmetic dermatologists on its teaching faculty, ensuring the best possible education for the attendees.
Our Botulinum Toxin (Dysport, Botox) training and dermal filler injection training is done in a clean medical facility, not a hotel room. Your cosmetic injectable training environment will be similar to your practice, since the injection technique for injecting a patient in a hotel room chair is much different, than a patient in a proper medical treatment table (chair).
The IAPAM offers the most comprehensive on-going support. We not only include a year of telephone/e-mail support for any medical spa or aesthetic practice questions, but all physician attendees will receive a complete 16 DVD cosmetic practice training program set that you can use as a refresher and to train your employees. In addition, you will receive a 3 DVD Botox, Dermal Fillers & Microdermabrasion training set for you and your clinical staff. For more information on the aesthetic medicine DVD training program and to view a video clip, please visit the Summary Page. Members also gain access to the IAPAM Member Only social networking groups, including LinkedIn.
The Aesthetic Medicine Symposium is funded by Allergan in the form of an independent educational grant.

But, I only need Botox Training?
Botulinum Toxin’s (i.e. Dysport, Botox) are one of the most competitive aesthetic procedures. If you base your aesthetic practice or medical spa on offering only Botulinum Toxin (Dysport, Botox) injections, you are going to have a very hard time being profitable. By attending the Symposium, you are going to learn from an expert faculty on the right way to setup an aesthetic practice and how to choose the most profitable aesthetic procedures.
Incorporating Botulinum Toxin’s (i.e. Dysport, Botox) is certainly part of a successful practice, and we dedicate 3/4 of day on the topic. However, you will also learn about much more profitable aesthetic procedures that have very little start-up costs. You can read more on this here: http://www.aestheticmedicinenews.com/the-secret-to-a-profitable-aesthetic-practice-or-medical-spa.htm
.
How many CME credits are available?
For the Symposium we recommend you take up to 15 AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits for physicians (CE credits are also available for nurses who attend with their physicians). Since the Symposium is mainly hands-on, we suggest you take these prior to attending, this way you will have a better foundation of the most common aesthetic medicine procedures.

How much of the training is hands-on?
You will find over 40-50% of the time will be spent with an opportunity for hands-on training.
.
Will I receive a Certificate?
Yes, you will receive a certificate which is required by many medical malpractice insurance providers. You will also receive a glass membership plaque to display in your practice or medspa.
.
Do you offer any on-going support?
Yes, after taking the Symposium you will receive a year of practice support. You will also have an opportunity to integrate an entire comprehensive aesthetic medicine procedure training program into your practice via our on-line clinical training system. Do you offer a Board Certification in Aesthetic Medicine?
Currently the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) does not offer a board certification in Aesthetic Medicine. When it does, we will work with them to offer official board certification to our members. The ABMS currently states: “antiaging is not a medical specialty, according to the American Medical Association and the American Board of Medical Specialties (which puts the “board” in “board-certified”).”
